Siouxland Recovery Fund Launches Individual Assistance Program for Flood Victims
Sioux City, IA — The Siouxland Recovery Fund, in collaboration with the Community Action Agency of Siouxland and the Salvation Army of Siouxland, is proud to announce the launch of an individual assistance program to support the needs of flood victims in Woodbury, Union, Plymouth, and Dakota Counties.
“We have been at the table over the last month as many organizations have partnered to provide immediate support to those in need,” stated Heather Hennings, President of United Way of Siouxland, fiscal agent for the Siouxland Recovery Fund.
The Siouxland Recovery Fund will partner with these organizations, who will divide the work between counties to ensure that those most impacted are helped. Individuals whose homes have been categorized as Destroyed, or with Major or Minor Damage, may apply for assistance as funds are available.
Residents of Woodbury County should contact the Community Action Agency of Siouxland at 712-274-1610.
Residents of Union (SD), Plymouth (IA), or Dakota (NE) should contact the Salvation Army of Siouxland at 712-255-8836.
Jean Logan, Executive Director of The Community Action Agency of Siouxland, shared, “Community Action Agency of Siouxland has been helping with flood relief since day one. Over the past month our agency has attended the resource fairs, provided state disaster assistance when it was available and is still offering case management services for affected families. We are proud to have educated numerous individuals, families, and agencies on the resources available in our community. We encourage anyone still needing assistance, with anything, to contact us. As we are a over a month into disaster relief, we know many families have depleted their savings and other resources. We are very grateful to be a continuing resource for not only the families affected by the flooding, but to everyone in our community.”
The Siouxland Recovery Fund has also supported the work of several organizations including the American Red Cross and Heartland Counseling Services for immediate aid and mental health counseling for flood victims and first-responders.
