Every domestic pet owner (dog, cat, female chickens, domestic pig (under 30 lbs)) needs to obtain an annual license for their domestic pet. New owners or animals brought into the city must be licensed within 60 days.
All licenses expire on December 31. Regardless of date of licensing, there is no proration of fees. At the time of application, the owner needs to provide a veterinarian’s certificate showing that the animal has been vaccinated, and the vaccination is current.
Permanent transfer of pet ownership requires the new owner to acquire a new license within 30 days. Residents may not have or keep more than five domestic pets over the age of six months.
$5.00 each for spade/neutered animal
$10.00 each for unspayed/unneutered animal
Per Ordinance 6.12.170 Pigeons are not allowed in the city of North Sioux City.
