Fingerprinting

The North Sioux City Police Department offers fingerprinting every Wednesday and Friday. Fingerprinting is free for residents of North Sioux City and $10 for all others.  Anyone who wishes to be fingerprinted must contact the North Sioux City Police Department one week in advance to schedule an appointment. Fingerprinting is done between the following times:

9:30 am – 11:30 am
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

*Please bring a valid identification card or driver’s license with you at the time of fingerprinting.

Animal Control

The North Sioux City Police Department investigates and follows up complaints of domestic animals running at large, domestic animals causing a nuisance and cruelty to animals. They investigate any reported animal bites, pick up animals running at large, or animals that are a threat to each other. Those animals that are not at danger are returned to their owners or placed in the Siouxland Humane Society animal shelter. Please contact Animal Control at (605) 232-4301.

Pet Licensing

Every domestic pet owner (dog, cat, female chickens, domestic pig (under 30 lbs)) needs to obtain an annual license for their domestic pet. New owners or animals brought into the city must be licensed within 60 days.

All licenses expire on December 31. Regardless of date of licensing, there is no proration of fees. At the time of application, the owner needs to provide a veterinarian’s certificate showing that the animal has been vaccinated and the vaccination is current.

Permanent transfer of pet ownership requires the new owner to acquire a new license within 30 days. Residents may not have or keep more than five domestic pets over the age of six months.

$5.00 each for spade/neutered animal
$10.00 each for unspade/unneutered animal

Per Ordinance 6.12.170 Pigeons are not allowed in the city of North Sioux City.

To license your pet, please stop by the North Sioux City Police Department at 118 South Victor Avenue (building is located directly behind City Hall). For questions, you may call 605-232-3302 during business hours of Monday-Friday.

Wild Animal Removal

The City of North Sioux City does not provide trapping/removal services of wild animals.

The City does not endorse any service provider. If you are experiencing trouble with wild creatures, you could contact one of the following. Charges may apply.
