Municipal
The election of council alderman(s) is an annual election held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June of each year. The Finance Officer is the Election Official for North Sioux City’s municipal elections. You may contact City Hall or the County Auditor’s office with any municipal election questions.
General
The general election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. It can include elections for state, district, and county officers, members of the Legislature, senators and representatives in Congress, and judges of the Supreme and Circuit Courts; and a President and vice-president of the United States. The Union County Auditor is in charge of general elections.
Identification at the Polls
All voters are required to provide identification before voting or obtaining an absentee ballot. The photo identification that may be presented shall either be:
- A South Dakota driver’s license or non-driver identification card
- A U.S. government photo ID card
- A U.S. Armed Forces ID
- A student photo identification card from a South Dakota high school or South Dakota accredited institution of higher education
- Tribal photo ID
