Dakota Senior Meals on wheel
DSM program came to North Sioux in July 2000. The Dakota Senior Meals is a non-profit nutrition program that has been serving 11 counties in south central and south eastern South Dakota for over 30 years. It is a service provided by the Rural Office of Community Services, Inc. (ROCS).
The program provides a nutritious noon meal five days a week at a nutrition site. Home delivery is also available for those who are unable to leave their homes. Well balanced, flavorful and nutritious meals are prepared and served on-site weekly at noon.
Senior meals is open to any person 60 years of age or older, plus their spouse of any age. If the senior has any person with disabilities who resides at home (regardless of age) and accompanies an older person, they are eligible. A suggested donation is $4.00, or you can purchase a punch card for the month/week. Punch cards do not have an expiration date. Food stamps are accepted.
Reservations are extremely helpful to allow the correct amount of meals to be prepared. If you can, please RSVP no later then 9:30 am, the day of the meal. However, Dakota Senior Meals doesn't want to turn anyone away so please join us.
All ages are welcome to join us for our noon meal. If you are under 60, the meal cost is $6.40.
